AW17 Beauty Trend Report: Part 3
OFF COLOUR
Wylde Beauty Director, Terry Barber, breaks down the season's hottest beauty trends
Strong colour is usually associated with Summer trends, but for AW17 there was a defiant move away from the “bright for Summer, earthy tones for Winter” theory. There is definitely an unpredictability in beauty colour currently: dirtied down with grey or pushed to lurid, rave-y bright in unpredictable shapes and random strokes, the rule of course being that it’s a solo element set against drop dead beautiful skin. It's colour that creates emotion rather than shock, and it's colour combinations that tell a story. Sometimes colour is nostalgic, reaching into our memories of youthful decades, but made incredibly modern through placement; pretty Punk, healthy Goth, or fresh Raver. Ultimately, it’s using colour to tell your own story.
