Five Minutes With...

Vibrant, youthful and relaxed, DANIELLE ROMERIL designs for women with style and a bold attitude. Her ultra-contemporary aesthetic has caught the eye of fashion insiders worldwide. Romeril spent 5 minutes with Wylde to share the secrets of her brand.

DANIELLE ROMERIL presented her typically eclectic and bold AW16 collection earlier this year, at both London and Paris Fashion Weeks. This collection - commended by fashion powerhouse Topshop, and the British Fashion Council - is a futuristic take on historical garments, complete with sheer panelling, slashed fabrics, heavy embroidery and structured edges.

Fresh from design school, Danielle’s fashion career quickly blossomed, from which she built her now established label. Stocked in ten countries worldwide, Danielle’s successes continue to follow her. Her brand has grown from strength to strength, winning several sought-after awards including the British Fashion Council NEWGEN prize. With such bold designs and colours, it's evident why Romeril's work is wowing the industry.

What was the inspiration behind this collection? It’s a time-travel trip between 16th Century Spain and Dutch cult-club Studio Paradiso in the early 80's.

We absolutely loved the white shirt with Elizabethan-inspired bell sleeves - what's your favourite piece from this collection? I love the double jackets with those sleeves. We wanted to take something historical and make it sporty, modern and even maybe a little futuristic!

What inspires your artistry? The world around me! Exhibitions, what I see on the street and craft books from years gone by.

Describe the type of individual you envision wearing Danielle Romeril The ‘Danielle Romeril’ girl has spirit and attitude; she wears beautiful things but in an undone way.

Describe your design process for this particular collection?Lots of 3D drape and stand work, cutting into garments and re-imagining them. To sum up, experimental embroidery!

What can we next expect from the Danielle Romeril label?A very exciting year, we're launching our e-store and will start making knitwear soon. I can't wait for another presentation on schedule at London Fashion Week next September!
