Wylde Loves: Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello

Report and photos by David Newton

Since taking over the reins at iconic Paris fashion houseSaint Laurent, Anthony Vaccarello has done the seemingly impossible: making his own mark, whilst simultaneously respecting and continuing the brand's recognisable legacy. It was a great fit to start with, as Mr Vaccarello's style has many crossover points with Mr Saint Laurent's. His previous employer Donatella Versace described his designs as: "sexy, dynamic, audacious" and US Vogue praised his "potent cocktail of three parts sex, one part slouch". Wylde is loving these Pre-Fall '17 accessories from Saint Laurent primarily because they hit that perfect spot between "classic YSL" and the edgy modernity of how the label is seen now.

Saint Laurent has always had one foot firmly in the glamorous, glittering world of Paris nightclubs and the quilted velvet/leather LouLou Monogram bags (above and below) in black or burgundy exude a slightly retro, ultra-chic vibe.

Next up are the more daytime-y Bellechasse document-holder style bags...again in black and burgundy (see above and below) with galvanised, "Saint Laurent" engraved metal clasp. These are classics that will last.

Another daytime bag...bigger this time, for carrying more "stuff": the Sac De Jour Souple (above and below) has a new design (after the original designed by Yves Saint Laurent)... but this time is more soft and supple. Shown here are the Matte Black and Fog Grey styles...there are also White, Pink Nude and Khaki, plus an embossed crocodile style in black.

All three styles are now in stores, with prices ranging from €1,350 (LouLou Monogram and Bellechasse) and €1,650 (Sac De Jour Souple)
